[253c]Concurrence's Find menu contains the standard text searching commands described in the Editing Text chapter of the documentation that came with your computer, with a few extensions. The commands in this menu apply to both outline and slide show windows.
[142c]Use the Find panel to control text searching and replacing. You'll also
find menu commands that let you bypass the panel for many operations.
[14c]Find Panel (f)
[205c]Click the Next button (or press the Return key) to search forward from the current text selection for the first match of the text in the Find field. Clicking Next again will find the next match, and so on.
[5c] Next
[148c]The Previous button works much like the Next button, but searches backward through the text for the first match that precedes the current selection.
[9c] Previous
[130c]The Replace button deletes the text selected in the main window, and replaces it with the text (if any) in the Replace With field.
[8c] Replace
[102c]Clicking the Replace & Find button is the same as clicking the Replace and Next buttons in succession.
[15c] Replace & Find
[168c]Click the Replace All button to search the main window for all text matching the contents Find field, and replace these matches with the text in the Replace With field.
[251c]If the All Topics button is selected, all the text in the current outline or slide will be searched for matches. If the Selected Only button is selected, only the selected topics (in an outline view) or text objects (in a slide view) will be searched.
[41c]Be careful: this command is not undoable.
Replace and Replace All
[157c]If you search for text while the Ignore Case button is selected, both upper and lower case letters will be considered to match the letters in the Find field.
[228c]For example, if "Dog" is in the Find field, and the Ignore Case button is selected, clicking the Next button will find any of "dog," "DOG, "dOg," etc. On the other hand, if ignore case is not selected, only "Dog" would be found.
[388c]The Regular Expression button also effects how the Find field is interpreted. If it is checked, you can use regular expressions, as defined in UNIX text editors, for your text searches. This is implemented primarily for expert UNIX users; see the UNIX manual page for the ed program for more information. (UNIX manual pages are available on-line only in the extended release of NeXTstep.)
[37c][bh]ack matches only "back" or "hack"
[42c][bh]*ack matches "bback", "bhhhack", etc.
[73c][^abc]red matches "fred", "pred", but not "bred" (^ is the same as "Not")
[62c].his matches "this", "phis" ("." matches any single character)
[76c]f\*red matches "f*red" (use "\" when you really want to find "*", ".", etc.)
Some examples of regular expressions:
[13c] Find Options
